Question Change Image Display Size?

Is there a way to change the image display size on the page?

Larger images such as this one

    don't fit on the page.

It would be good if all images, no matter the size of them, were automatically scaled to fit in the browser window.

I do not get what you mean by fit the page? I see that photo was fit all page content. Is that because we have fixed width style?

Btw, we have limited width and height for photo to perfect display on the screen (no matter they are small or big - just like how FB handles them).

    This is what I mean:

    Image1.jpg

    Image2.jpg

As you will see from both of these screenshots, the full image cannot be seen on the page, only the top half of the photo can be seen. To see the whole thing I have to scroll the page, which isn't desired at all.

What I would expect to see for any image, no matter the size, is that it is resized to either fit the screen or to scaled to fit a max height and width. This is something that a rival product does so you can always see the complete photo on the screen without scrolling.

I must say it is not possible unless the max height is reduced (for this case, the height was run out of window height) but it makes the width also become smaller to keep the ratio.

It is interesting but I think it is not necessary to deal with because you are expecting a big photo not a small one (thumbnail for example). For smaller devices (eg: Phone, Tablet...) we already has responsive to fit its content. (Not on this site as it does not have responsive but would be on 1.2 soon).

I realise that the width would also become smaller to maintain the ratio. However I think this is preferable for the user to be able to see the entire image without scrolling.

I'd have to disagree with this. I'm not expecting to see a big photo, I'm expecting to see the whole photo without scrolling. I don't think any users want to scroll to see the entire image, they want to see what it looks like on-screen with no scrolling. You could have an option to click on the image to then see the full sized image (which would need scrolling, of course).

The whole reason I uploaded large images like this was to see how XenGallery handled them, both for loading purposes but the key one is display. Users aren't necessarily going to have the technical ability to edit a photo before uploading it so that it nicely fits on screen, so I would expect XenGallery to do the scaling for them. As it currently stands, XenGallery is only really suitable for displaying smaller images if you want to avoid scrolling and this could be a problem for some forums, especially photography ones where they are likely to be uploading larger images.

Some basic things need to be done first. Trying to make it faster.
