Help User Attributions

I imported a photopost pro vb 4.x gallery to the XenGallery. All photos seem to have made it, but there is a problem with attributions to users.

If I search based on username, I get no results for anyone except myself (the admin). However, when exploring photos, I find the following:

    1) if I start to "share" a photo, I can see in the pre-populated share text that the photo is attributed to the wrong user.

    2) likewise, if I start to "comment" on a photo, I see that the wrong user is attributed. I looked at the member details and they seem to be off by 1,000. Example:

http://www.[domain].com/community/members/[usernameA].1642/ <-- this user is associated with the original photo description

http://www.[domain].com/community/members/[usernameB].462/ <-- but it should be this one

Notice the difference between the userIDs... identical except for the 1. I'll look at other examples but appreciate any guidance.

Have you try to rebuild albums and contents? There are in: AdminCP -> Tools -> Rebuild Caches.

It will help if I can give me an account to access your gallery for investigation. You can send me via converstation.

I did try that, and it helped some. I will follow up via conversation, thanks!

    Hello Tonmo,

After tried your username and password, here are my answers:

    - Maybe you searched for album. I have tried search photo and it shows result from other users. As imported from Photopost, all categories in PhotoPost were imported as albums and their owner is admin.
    - Album's owner is admin but photo's owners are normal users, when you click on photo and click share, owner is correct.
    - I have tried comment on a photo and it shows correctly my username and the link to my account.

Thanks. Some of your explanations help, but the problem with users is that yes, it shows an owner when you click share, but the problem is that it's the wrong owner. I happen to know who submitted the photos and it is off in the system. Perhaps some kind of a userID mapping issue.

If they are wrong then you should double check import logs if they are correct because XenGallery use that import logs to get users.

Upon closer inspection you are right. Our database was messed up to begin with, so it is not a problem with your product -- XenGallery works great!

Along these lines, though -- is there any guidance you can provide to me if I want to reassign photos to different users within the Database? I don't see an admin option to do this... and it's probably not needed very often... but is there a safe way to do this manually within the database?

Yes, XenGallery currently does not support it. You need to modify directly in the database. Just modify 2 fields: user_id and username. The same applies for albums.

Also note, for future reference, gallery comments data must also be updated if you have user attribution issues with the originating database.

You are preferring to reassign for photos, albums or comments?

You do not need to reassign comment's info if you just want to reassign photos.
